ABOUT BIG D CLIMB
The Big D Climb is the biggest stair climb in North Texas. Participants race up 70 stories of stairs at Bank of America Plaza in Downtown Dallas to raise money for blood cancer research. More than 2,400 climbers raced in January 2016 and helped to raise $310,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. January 28, 2017 will mark the event's 9th year and our goal is to sell out the climb and raise more than $350,000. Can we do it? Absolutely! The Big D Climb has the best climbers with the biggest hearts. See you at the top!
You! If you don't want to try it alone, form a team and challenge your friends, family and co-workers to race you to the top of Bank of America Plaza. Simply click on the link "create a team" on the registration page to climb for a cure together. Racers must be at least 7 years old to participate. For safety reason, children are not able to be carried.

Meet Julia Brown
2017 Big D Climb Honored Hero, ALL Survivor
In 2013, Julia was a healthy, happy, beautiful 8 year old girl full of spunk and sass who loved fashion, playing with her friends, cheerleading, volleyball, and swimming, among other activities. She had never had an illness more than a typical cold, sore throat, or stomach bug. After Thanksgiving 2013, Julia started running a low-grade fever and was very fatigued. After a blood test at her doctor's office on December 5th, her doctor was immediatelysuspicious of a blood infection or cancer. They were sent to Children's Medical Center in Dallas right away and Julia was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on December 8, 2013. Immediately following diagnosis, Julia underwent surgery to place a medi-port so she could begin chemotherapy. A few hours after surgery, she went into septic shock and spent three days in the ICU, followed by another 23 days inpatient in the hospital. For the next two years and four months, she underwent chemotherapy, steroids, blood transfusions, spinal taps, cranial radiation, 70 days in the hospital, fevers, ER visits, and countless pokes and pills. Throughout her intense treatment, Julia remained positive, upbeat and her personal motto was born... "Love your life because you only live it once"! She finished her treatment on April 4, 2016 and is thankfully in remission!
Julia and her family are so grateful for the research that has been funded by LLS to advance the treatment of leukemia and other blood cancers. Julia loves being an advocate for leukemia awareness and has held neighborhood lemonade stands benefitting LLS. "TEAM JULIA" has participated in the Big D Climb for the past three years and have also walked in "Light The Night". Her friends organized the fundraiser "Jump for Julia, Leap for Lainey" in 2014 and Julia was thrilled to donate the proceeds to LLS. She also served as"Girl of the Year" in 2015 for the LLS Man/Woman of the Year Campaign. She loves helping others and for the past two years has organized "Julia's Joy Drive", a holiday toy drive benefitting the patients on the Oncology floor at Children's Medical Center.
Julia is currently in the 6th grade at Legacy Christian Academy and lives in Frisco with her parents, her 13 year-old brother, Kyle, and her new puppy, Bella. She is a straight A student and has recently returned to tumbling with plans to try out for school cheerleader later this year. She plays volleyball and enjoys art, acting, theatre, and singing. She loves panda bears and all things fashionable and sparkling... Just like her sparkling smile and personality.
